Day 11: Nightclub Dance Series: Sexy Moves for the Club
This wasn’t extremely challenging or anything like that, but it was fun. I love dance dvds, even if I feel uncoordinated following them at times. I can honestly say that for 95% of this dvd, I could do all the moves. The only thing I couldn’t do is this hip circling thing while dropping low, which I’m totally going to practice some more.
None of the moves were entirely new though, so there is that, but I did like the instructor. She was a tad verbose, but pretty fun and she was very good a t dancing.
I felt more challenged when I went and put on heels, but even then it was more of a cardio thing than a power and strength thing. I think I need to add more freestyle dancing into my days.
Then practiced what I learned from lap dance class yesterday and I think it went pretty well. I’m not entirely sure of the timing. I am horrible at counts, but I don’t think it matters that much. ;)

Day 8: I ended up going out after work, so by the time I had time to work out, I had been drinking, it was late and I was tired. I did do some crunches and some squats and throughout various parts of the day I had been working on strengthening my stomach by sucking it in and holding aka activating those muscles.
Day 9: I’m going to try and make up for my lack of working out yesterday and just did 30 minutes of the stair stepper. Don’t think I worked my butt as much as I wanted to do. Oh well! At first it was kicking my butt, but after 10 minutes I could do it a lot better. Like go for 3 minutes and then take a 10-30 break, instead of having to break after every 1.5 minutes. (Remember I’m a beginner!)
So I still have at least another workout session in my future, but that won’t be until later on.
Why can’t I just cheat and get lipo? Because it’s expensive and there is the multiple week recovery time. Also, scared of surgery. That’s why…ugh
I almost didn’t do a workout today, but I’m glad I did. Damn feeling good after working out. Maybe I should do this in the mornings. Ughh but having to wake up earlier would suck and then I would have to put in shower time too.
Anyway, started with Jillian Michael’s for all of 5 minutes. My hamstrings are just too tight to start off kick boxing. I’ve been stretching them, but looks like I’m going to have to do it some more.
Instead, I went back to Carmen Electra’s Fit to Strip. I really like this DVD. This isn’t the learn routines to strip dvd, but actually has workout exercises in it. I like them because it changes a lot and isn’t repetitive but I’m still breaking a sweat and feeling the burn. Plus it goes from lower body to arms to abs. It has something for everything.
I will say that I don’t feel like I’m getting so much in my arms (compared to my legs and abs), except for when I do the push ups. But on the plus side, I’m definitely working some things in back!
Yet again the exercises focus on you keeping your abs tight during them. I’m not great at that. If I’m doing ab stuff I want to feel it in my abs not just also happen to be working them out as well. That’s great for regular workouts but for something targeted for my abs, no go.
Mostly this dvd just made me really miss yoga. For class I use to have to do it for 45 min, 3 times a week and I loved it! I don’t know if I was stronger, but I definitely was more flexible which was awesome.
As it is, my hamstrings are still incredibly tight. Like I feel I should spend a hour tonight just stretching them, since they’re kinda interfering in my ability to do some of the workout to the max. I’m listening to my body and not doing them to the max, so I don’t tear anything, but it’s uncomfortable for me.
Anyway, didn’t get much from this dvd and ended up switching to Carmen Electra’s Aerobic Striptease Vol. 2 Fit to Strip floor work. I really do enjoy that dvd and within the first 3 exercises I was sweating. I also felt the ab stuff in my abs!
Definitely had me sweating and feeling the cardio. Like I said earlier, in the first 10 minutes of the DVD, I wanted to punch this guy in the face because I felt the cardio.
Great job of switching it up from high intensity to moderate intensity
Felt like I was working a lot/majority on my leg muscles
So many fucking squats! (not a fan)
Kept saying to engage my ab muscles…I didn’t know how to do that (I have a better idea now and he does mention it like half way in-ish). So didn’t work my abs as much as I should have
Uses weights in the video, but you don’t need them
I felt the need to move around a lot. I couldn’t stand being in one position
If you have knee problems, don’t do this!!
Things I learned: My hamstrings are so freaking tight! I need to stretch them out more, even after the warm up period. And the parts of my thighs I want to shape up are part of the gluteal muscles (I think.).
Only 7 minutes into this workout (there are 53 more min left) and I’m breathing hard almost to the point of out of breathness. Oh fuck. I’m going to get my ass kicked. I wish I could put up more of a fight.
I needed something quick and wouldn’t get me too pumped. I was doing this right before bed, so I was looking for something 30 min and this program said it is ‘light and easy.’
Bottom line: I hated it and ended up stopping early (also because I didn’t have the ball, but yea).
I wasn’t crazy about the instructors and the only thing they motivated me on is the desire to punch them. I just don’t do uber peppy when I’m working out. Trust me, I’m cussing you out. I’m definitely not happy-go-lucky workout girl. I also didn’t like the cardio warm up they had and for some reason I felt uncoordinated as fuck (aka like usual when I’m following something).
Day 4: Pussycat Dolls Workout
Well, I worked up a sweat. I look disgusting right now. Since I am a beginner exerciser this kept my heart rate up and sweating (maybe not like it was 110 degrees outside and I was wearing winter clothing, but still enough).
I also have never felt closer to a stripper.
I did like the dumb little dances and I think that if I practiced them and added my own technique, I could look really hot doing them. With the exception of the Burlesque dance because that one can suck my imaginary balls. I don’t think I’m meant to grind boas in between my legs.
The girls doing the workouts looked amaaaaaazing! Omg, like that’s where I want to be and wear skimpy outfits like that and be confident amazing. (Actually even if I looked like that I probably would never wear that skimpy of an outfit). Not to say I’m not confident in what I’m wearing, I am, but if I were to wear hot pants and a sports bra, essentially, that is a different story.
Japan’s notoriously fusty PTA recently published its annual list of “programs you wouldn’t want your kids watching,” (now I’m curious what the actual list was) a ranking traditionally topped by such scurrilous cartoon filth as Crayon Shin-chan, but kindly anime fans felt they could do better by supplying their own ranking of anime children shouldn’t be viewing.
Day 2: Carmen Electra's Aerobic Striptease - Vol. 2 Fit to Strip
I really liked this workout! It is easy for a beginner, like me, to get into and nice that you are working a bunch of different areas. Not sure if it was 2-30 minutes videos or what, but I did the whole thing which is probably less than 54 minutes. I liked Carmen and Michael Carson. I definitely was sweating and feeling the burn.
Only requirement is a chair
Targets different areas (so you could skip to those areas)
The cut scenes were annoying
Read a review that it is not fluid and there are parts where this is really obvious
My shoulders are tense, but partially that is me
Quickly go through moves so you don’t feel like you’re in agony but still feel like you are achieving something.
(I’m kinda hoping to keep this up for at least a month using different workout videos, especially if I’m serious about looking good for a [future?] tattoo and my own personal enjoyment)
